Stories So Far.
My personal regenerative journey.
Wait, where have I been when? And what happened there that I want to remember? Sometimes, in order to make memories stick, let information become experience and knowledge, you need to write them down. I need to write them down. To be able to go back. To be able to reflect. These are insights, moments, and anecdotes about life, travels, and the people I have met and don’t want to forget.
Lake Louise without the lake [Across Canada – part 4: 04.-07.04.2018]
We are on the road to Lake Louise, 3 hours south of Jasper and less than an hour before Banff, in a modern black transfer bus with a half glass panoramic roof. It’s cloudy outside and the sun still about to rise. I didn’t think that one hour time difference
Beautiful ice cold spring in Jasper [Across Canada – part 3: 31.03.-04.04.2018]
Getting off the train I arrived in a cold winter town with beautiful mountains all around. After weeks of being more in the city and more indoors in Jasper, Alberta, I started my every day walking again. As I don’t have a car I have to reach every trailhead and
Train meditation from Vancouver to Jasper [Across Canada – Part 2: 30.03.-31.03.2018]
I’m at the Red Truck Brewery, 10 minutes away from the Pacific Station, to wait for my train and the 18 hours train ride. Yes, I like trains. My former company – the German railways – has nothing to do with me always preferring the train over cars. Coming from
Vancouver [Across Canada – Part 1: 21.03.-30.03.2018]
We arrived early and tired leaving the sun behind in Los Angeles. “We” being Bridget and me. She had decided to join me for 6 days in Vancouver to explore the city and I was incredibly happy to start traveling again in company. Although Bridget didn’t get through border patrol
Los Angeles — a rollercoaster ride (Part 2: 26.02.-20.03.2018)
The time passed by quickly and now I’m already in Vancouver and think about the last weeks in Los Angeles. After coming back from the road trip around California I tried to pack some more activities and new things into the remaining days which felt suddenly so few. So what
A short Nebraska Midwest side story
“I’m going to Nebraska!” I hear myself saying more than once. And more than once I got a very confused face and reply “Why?” Well, from their reaction it seems there’s not much to see there. The huge flat planes of the Midwest. Nebraska. The state which Hollywood movies and
San Francisco, Yosemite and Sequoia – Coastal roads and giant trees (California ~ 16.-25.02.2018)
“Come to LA first and we go on a road trip to San Francisco together.” The unplanned invitation Bridget made at a party in Zurich, June 2017, after a couple of drinks actually brought me to LA. I’m still not sure if she knew that I would take this as
Los Angeles — I hate u, I love u (Part 1: 25.01.-16.02.2018)
Los Angeles. There hasn’t been a destination on my travels so far that people had so polarizing opinions about. “Don’t go there. I don’t like it.” – “Skip LA.” – “It’s so dirty. That’s not at all a shiny and nice city.” – “Just make it a brief stop.” –
Big Island — sea creatures and good vibes (Hawaiian Island No. 4 ~ 17.-24.01.2018)
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying ‘good bye’ so hard.” – Winnie the Poh Hawaii, the Big Island, was my fourth and so far last Hawaiian island to explore. After having much time by myself and being in contact with all these thoughts in my head
Kaua‘i — A time travel backwards (Hawaiian Island No. 3 ~ 10.-17.01.2018)
Disclaimer: I had a lot of time to think and thoughts coming up while I stayed on beautiful Kaua’i. So if this blog post gets a bit longer in text please forgive me. ********* Arriving in Kauai feels small, a bit slower and like I have to set my clock
Maui – A road trip to valleys and volcano (Hawaiian Island No. 2 ~ 04.-10.01.2018)
Maui. After a look at the importance of an own car (if I want to see something of Maui), the rental prices and the hostel and Airbnb prices I knew I had to come up with a plan. Hostel and car rental would be too expensive. So I chose to
O’ahu – Gateway to Hawaii (Hawaiian Island No. 1, 29.12.2017 – 04.01.2018)
“Be prepared. Hawaii is so American.” I got that advice from Pat about a year ago when I talked about my travel plans in the Pacific. I expected something like that – hey, I watched Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, I’m so prepared for this! – but it was good to
Samoa – a short adventure across the Pacific (24.-29.12.2017)
“Why do you come to Samoa?” the officer at customs on the international airport asks again. It feels like an eternity that I’ve been questioned and held back here. It’s 2 am in the morning, I’m the last passenger to pass the border and it’s maybe just 10 minutes ago
Fiji – a holiday from traveling (11.12.-23.12.)
When I first arrived in Nadi, Fiji, I was a bit shocked. Nothing felt right, it wasn’t at all what I expected it to be and I couldn’t get along with the people around me. After 10 weeks in New Zealand I had to adjust myself anew. I planned my

New Zealand – 10 weeks passed by in a glimpse – what’s next?
So here it is. The last day in New Zealand. It’s crazy how 10 weeks can fly by without really noticing the time. Lucky I have pictures and this blog to remind me what wonderful things I did on my way around the islands. And how wonderful people I met
