The last 6 days, I spent in Spain at an advanced, deep dive workshop into Holistic Management.
Three different ecoregions with four different farming operations to see and listen.
Seeing what different tools like (over)rest and (over)grazing do in brittle and non-brittle environments just 50 km apart was fascinating yet again. The more brittle the environment, the clearer and faster you see the results on land and in lives.
Listening to how the land managers set their priorities and what’s important to them – another important piece of context and their journey.
Above all, we kept returning to the first priority of a farming operation: How do you fund yourself and your family?
There are a lot of processes at work, responding to our management, influencing our lives, decisions, and finances.
Making sense of everything together. Only then can we actually support each other and support regeneration.
A huge thanks to Byron from @savoryinstitute for sharing his in-depth knowledge of over 40 years. And to @hubdelnorte, who did an amazing job bringing us together at @curlycreekranch and designing this rich experience.
I have learned, yet again, so much.
Can‘t wait for our next adventures. 🌱 🦬
