Something new is relatively easy to think about when sitting in a training or by an evening beer with your peers.
What happens when we put it into practice?
We are still fueled by the idea and the excitement.
And then… We suddenly scratch at the habits of our animals, our neighbors, and ourselves.
There is a saying: “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.”
Strategy, new ideas, new practices, any changes.
When changing your grazing to regenerative grazing, most people we work(ed) with tell us 3 years. 3 years to get comfortable in the new way of thinking, planning, and acting.
We need perseverance and “just sticking with it” for a while until we change what we were so used to in the past.
Having colleagues, peers, a community to talk about these things helps. People who will call us out because they care.
Change is easier together.
What new habit are you trying out this year – for your animals and yourself? And who is your support?
